My approach to therapy is humanistic and focused on your needs.

I’ve always found that I perform better in my life and work when I feel like my most authentic self. When my mind, heart, and behaviors all align with who I am, I am happier and more productive. My approach to therapy is similar to the approach I take in my own life and is focused on helping you restore a sense of peace and authenticity in your life.

Areas of Focus

 Sport & Performance

Being able to perform at your best is crucial to personal and professional success as well as overall happiness and self-esteem. One thing that separates successful individuals from the rest is how to work through performance barriers, setbacks, and injury.

I provide individual mental skills training sessions for athletes, professionals, and individuals who are seeking to perform at their best and achieve their personal and professional goals. Finding "the zone" is a complex process and is different for every athlete and professional I work with. I take an integrated approach to help you build the mental skills to find your zone and achieve your goals.

Weight Loss & Wellness

There's no "magic pill" to lose weight, and even if there was, what about keeping the weight off? Effective programs that help people lose weight and keep it off address the physical AND emotional issues surrounding food, exercise, and health.

My approach is to combine mindfulness and behavioral techniques to help you feel healthier and happier. Together, we will create a plan for you to address fitness concerns, nutritional habits, and develop a healthy body image. Ideally, we will also collaborate with your medical, fitness/exercise, and nutrition professionals to build a team to support your goals.

Individual Therapy

My approach to therapy is humanistic and focused on your needs. I work with you as a "whole person", understanding you as an individual and not defined by your struggles. I believe that the foundation of a positive therapy experience is developing a strong, trusting, confidential relationship with your therapist.

With this approach, your treatment is sensitive to and respectful of your values, culture, and beliefs. From there, we collaboratively work to understand current challenges as well as highlight and build on your personal strengths.

  • The first session is dedicated to gathering information and learning about you, what brought you to therapy, your goals for therapy. This is done in a conversational, and hopefully, comfortable and safe manner with the purpose of fully understanding your current situation and how aspects of your past might impact your current emotional health. At the end of the session, you can expect that I will share my professional diagnostic impressions. We will also collaboratively discuss if and how we will continue to work together and set a plan for future sessions.

It is extremely important that you feel comfortable in therapy and with the therapist you chose to work with. I always encourage clients to consider the first and second sessions as an opportunity to see if working with me is good fit for you also.

  • YES! I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. However, if you have another carrier, we can still work together. At the end of each session, you will be provided with a bill that you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you should do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:

    • What are my mental health benefits?
    • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
    • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
    • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
    • Is approval required from my primary care physician?

  • In general, the law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a psychotherapist. No information is disclosed without prior written permission from the client. In the event that you would like someone to be informed, consulted, or support your therapy process, you would simply need to sign a release of information and I would be happy to facilitate the connection.

However, there are some exceptions required by law to this rule. Exceptions include:

    • Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse. The therapist is required to report this to the appropriate authorities.
    • If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. The therapist is required to notify the police.
    • If a client intends to harm himself or herself. The therapist will make every effort to work with the individual to ensure their safety. However, if an individual does not cooperate, additional measures may need to be taken.

For more information on what you can expect from therapy, try reading this article on "What is Good Therapy".

  • Making the decision to seek help can be intimidating, but help is only an email or phone call away! Your call is very important to me, so if I am unable to take your call, please leave a message and I will return it within 24-48 hours. If you are experiencing suicidal thoughts or a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. I do not maintain 24-hour access to my phone or email.

    Intake Paperwork:
Once we have scheduled an intake session, I will send you a link to log into the client portal and complete the required intake forms before the appointment. Completing the forms prior to your appointment helps us maximize the entire session time to discuss the reason for your referral.
